"Project Phire" from Corning. More scratch resistant glass than Corning Gorilla Glass is about to come!

On Friday Corning officially announced the "Project Phire"- a project to develop more scratch resistant glass than Gorilla Glass.

The company announced the Corning Gorilla Glass 4 few days ago (In November), and the company already started working to develop and provide more stronger and tougher glass than the Gorilla Glass 4! President of the company Mr. James Clappin said, "Corning’s continued advancements in cover glass technologies include Gorilla Glass 4 as well as glass material enhancements for improved scratch-resistance, 3D shaping, and several other surface capabilities,". He also said that “We have developed a new product that will provide sapphire-like scratch resistance while maintaining the legendary toughness and break resistance of Gorilla Glass.”

Last year Sapphire made headlines by the rumor that Apple was going to implement Sapphire glass in most of its product in near future rather than Corning Gorilla Glass. But Apple has provided the project to Foxconn to manufacture the product.
Now corning have to work heard to provide "Sapphire like scratch resistant."
